Wikileaks: Fund FPI So the tradition of the Police and BIN

Wikileaks back leaked some classified U.S. documents related to Indonesia. This time in the latest documents, Wikileaks describes the relationship between police and community organizations the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI).

In addition to revealing the FPI is used as 'attack dog' Police, secret telegram was also revealed that the former police chief who is now the head of BIN, General (Ret.) Sutanto, is a figure which has funded the FPI.


Funding from Sutanto was given before the attack to the FPI to the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, February 2006. But then Sutanto stop the flow of funds after the attack occurred.

"Yahya Asagaf, a senior official said BIN, Sutanto, who was a police chief considers FPI useful as an 'attack dog'," said a secret telegram was published by Wikileaks.

When the U.S. embassy officials asked the benefits of FPI plays the role of 'attack dog', because the police actually had quite scary for people, John explained that the FPI is used as a 'tool' by the police, so that security officers did not accept the criticism related to human rights violations. FPI also mentioned that the fund is already the tradition in the neighborhood Police and BIN.

Diplomatic cable published by Wikileaks also said that the FPI to get most of the funds from the security guards, but they have to face funding cuts after the attacks.
